Abi Clarke
In the olden
days, i.e. Early 2020. In the olden days, comedians may have expected to tour
across the UK for a long time before getting invited to join a television panel
and selling an arena tour. It's not straightforward at the moment. Comedy is
one form of art that is able to continue to be performed front of a live crowd,
but we'll not see arena tours any time soon. One Bristol comedian has found an
immense global audience during lockdown via social media. Abi Clarke didn't set
out to become an internet celebrity. The 24-year old, living in Hen bury, with
her parents, started making videos online "to gain a following of
like-minded individuals who would be interested in my stand-up comic. "I
was performing regularly in Devon for men who were in their 50s and were not as
enthusiastic about my Love Island Sims and Twilight references so it was time
to look online for other young women who would enjoy my stand-up comedy."
Abi, who lives in Henbury with her parents continues to post her videos on
Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. She draws inspiration from a variety of
sources, including conversations with strangers, chat room, and writing down
all her thoughts on her phone.
